Proposes amendment to Article X, Section 6 of the Hawaii State Constitution to repeal the requirement that the Governor appoint Board of Regents members from candidate pools presented by the Candidate Advisory Council for the Board of Regents of the University of Hawaii

Allows the Governor greater control and involvement in the recruitment and selection process for Board of Regents appointments

Authorizes the Governor to make appointments to the Board of Regents as provided by law, rather than from candidates pre-selected by the advisory council

Would allow voters to decide whether the Candidate Advisory Council should no longer be constitutionally mandated

Committee on Judiciary and Labor recommends the measure pass Third Reading
