S.C.R. 14 - Breastfeeding at Hospital Discharge

• Legislature affirms the state will work to increase rates of exclusive breastfeeding at hospital discharge to address childhood obesity and related health risks.

• All hospitals in Hawaii are urged to adopt written breastfeeding policies that support exclusive breastfeeding.

• Hospitals implementing exclusive breastfeeding policies are urged to provide continuous staff training to ensure proper policy implementation.

• Certified copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to state legislators, the Governor, Director of Health, healthcare associations, breastfeeding organizations, and the American Academy of Pediatrics chapter in Hawaii.
