Requests the Board of Education to create a coalition addressing development of No Child Left Behind assessments in the Hawaiian language for Hawaiian language immersion students.

Coalition must include representatives from Hawaiian language immersion schools, University of Hawaii System, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Kamehameha Schools, and other relevant entities.

Coalition should develop grade-specific assessments in Hawaiian language for language arts, mathematics, and science to more accurately measure student academic achievement.

Board of Education must report findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2014 Regular Session, including timeline for assessment implementation and any funding requests.

Recognizes that Hawaiian language immersion program operates at twenty-one public schools serving over two thousand students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.
