S.C.R. 156 - Green Building Program Working Group

• Urges the President of the Senate to establish a Green Building Program Working Group to explore ways to encourage green building practices in Hawaii.

• Working Group to address streamlining the permitting process, eligibility requirements, incentive levels, targeted sustainability technologies, expanded affordability, economic development stimulation, and green permitting guidelines.

• Working Group composition includes Senate committee leadership, state and city officials, representatives from the Hawaii Building and Construction Trades Council, U.S. Green Building Council Hawaii Chapter, Urban Land Institute Hawaii, and other interested stakeholders appointed by the President of the Senate.

• President of the Senate to designate a Working Group member as Chairperson.

• Working Group must submit findings and recommendations including proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2014 Regular Session and ceases to exist on June 30, 2014.
