Requests the Department of Land and Natural Resources and State Foundation on Culture and the Arts to assist the Friends of Liliuokalani Gardens in preparing to commemorate the centennial of Queen Liliuokalani's death in 2017.

Recognizes that Liliuokalani Gardens in Hilo was dedicated in 1917 and represents a significant Japanese style tea garden landscape comparable to notable gardens in the continental United States.

Notes that the Friends of Liliuokalani Gardens non-profit organization is working with the County of Hawaii to create a master plan for preservation, maintenance, and improvement of the gardens for a year-long centennial celebration in 2017.

Directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Board of Land and Natural Resources, State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, Mayor of the County of Hawaii, and the Friends of Liliuokalani Gardens.
