Request the Department of Education to meet with interested parties to examine the feasibility of establishing a boxing pilot program in at least one of Hawaii's public high schools.

Department of Education must report back to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2014 Regular Session convening on whether a boxing pilot program was deemed feasible, efforts to establish it, and outcomes if established.

Cites that boxing provides physical fitness benefits, stress relief, self-defense training, and teaches discipline and focus to youth and young adults.

Notes that youth and amateur boxing have strict safety guidelines including required headgear, mouthguards, athletic cups, and protective padding.

Transmit certified copies of the resolution to the Chair of the Board of Education, Superintendent of Education, Chair of the Hawaii State Boxing Commission, Hawaii High School Athletic Association, and Amateur Boxing Association.
