Request Congress to provide an exemption or sunset waiver for Hawaii from the Jones Act (Merchant Marine Act of 1920) to lower shipping costs and construction expenses.

Cite that 80% of goods consumed in Hawaii are imported by ship, with freight rates between the mainland and Hawaii being among the highest in the world despite low transpacific shipping costs elsewhere.

Note that Congress previously exempted the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa from the Jones Act, establishing precedent for Pacific region exemptions.

Request the President and his administration support the proposed Congressional legislation and urge Hawaii's congressional delegation to request the Jones Act exemption.
