Request the Department of Transportation to designate Route 200 on the Island of Hawaii (Saddle Road) as the Daniel K. Inouye Legacy Highway when appropriate.

Route 200 traverses the width of the Island of Hawaii from downtown Hilo to its junction with Hawaii Route 190 near Waimea.

Upon completion of improvements and repairs, the State will have sole jurisdiction over Route 200, at which time the designation can be implemented.

Recognize Senator Daniel K. Inouye's 50-year Senate tenure, service as Senate President Pro Tempore and Appropriations Committee Chair, and role in securing federal funds for Hawaii infrastructure projects.

Direct certified copies of the resolution be sent to the Governor, Director of Transportation, Mayor of the County of Hawaii, and County Department of Public Works Director.
