Requests the Department of Land and Natural Resources and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts to assist the Friends of Liliuokalani Gardens in preparations for the centennial commemoration of Queen Liliuokalani's death in 2017.

Recognizes that Liliuokalani Gardens in Hilo, dedicated in 1917, is a significant Japanese-style tea garden landscape comparable to other notable Japanese gardens in the United States.

Notes that the Friends of Liliuokalani Gardens, a newly-formed Hilo non-profit, is collaborating with the County of Hawaii on creating a master plan for preservation, maintenance, and improvement of the gardens.

Directs certified copies of the resolution to be transmitted to the Board of Land and Natural Resources, State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, Mayor of the County of Hawaii, and the Friends of Liliuokalani Gardens.
