Urges the University of Hawaii Board of Regents to name the library building at the University of Hawaii-West Oahu campus after Gene I. Awakuni

Recognizes Awakuni's service as chancellor of the UH-West Oahu campus since March 2005, following prior experience as vice provost at Stanford University and administrator at Columbia University and multiple UC campuses

Acknowledges Awakuni's leadership in transforming the West Oahu campus from portable classrooms on the Leeward Community College campus to a modern facility in Kapolei by overcoming financial challenges through innovative solutions and community collaboration

Requires certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the University of Hawaii Board of Regents, the President of the University of Hawaii System, and the Chancellor of UH-West Oahu
