Hawaiian Paradise Park's population in Hawaii County grew 61.7 percent from 7,051 (2000) to 11,404 (2010) according to the 2010 U.S. Census.

Population growth has increasingly strained elementary schools currently serving Hawaiian Paradise Park.

Department of Education is requested to conduct a needs-based assessment and feasibility study for a new elementary school in Hawaiian Paradise Park.

Department of Education must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2014.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Education.
