Department of Education is requested to meet with interested parties to examine the feasibility of establishing a boxing pilot program in at least one of Hawaii's public high schools.

Department of Education must report to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2014 Regular Session convening on whether the boxing pilot program is feasible, efforts made to establish it, and any outcomes if established.

Resolution emphasizes that youth and amateur boxing have strict safety guidelines including required protective equipment (headgear, athletic cups, mouth guards, padding) that differ from professional boxing rules.

Certified copies of the resolution must be transmitted to the Board of Education Chair, Superintendent of Education, Hawaii State Boxing Commission Chair, Hawaii High School Athletic Association, and Amateur Boxing Association.
