Appropriates $60,000 for fiscal year 2013-2014 and $60,000 for fiscal year 2014-2015 to fund one full-time equivalent Okinawan studies librarian position at the University of Hawaii at Manoa library.

The dedicated librarian would manage the collection, development, and preservation of Okinawa-related materials and serve as liaison for the Center for Okinawan Studies.

Designates the librarian to handle website development, fundraising, outreach to the local and broader Okinawan communities, and restoration of rare historic materials.

Recognizes that the University of Hawaii at Manoa holds the largest and most comprehensive collection of Okinawa-related literature outside of Japan.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
