Establishes the Hawaiian Studies Instructional Office within the Department of Education to provide oversight and management of Hawaiian education programs in public schools.

Office shall have direct responsibility for all components of Hawaiian education programs required by Hawaii Constitution Article X, Section 4, and the Hawaiian language medium education program established under Chapter 302H.

Office may assist public charter schools in providing instruction on Hawaiian history, culture, arts, and language.

Hawaiian studies office, Hawaiian education programs, and Hawaiian language medium education program shall be separate line items in the state budget.

Appropriates unspecified sum from general revenues for fiscal year 2014-2015 to fund the Hawaiian studies instructional office operations, effective July 1, 2014.
