HI HB1629

Authorizes the state fire council to establish statewide qualifications testing and certification standards for individuals who conduct maintenance and testing of portable fire extinguishers, fire protection systems, and fire alarm systems.

Certification standards shall be based on the current adopted state fire code and standards and recognized throughout Hawaii.

Allows county fire departments to determine certification fees.

Authorizes the state fire council to coordinate and implement statewide fire and emergency responder understandings and agreements to promote effective use of fire and life safety resources.

Effective upon approval.
