Allows a podiatric physician to perform ankle fracture surgery if they are board qualified or board certified in reconstructive rearfoot ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and have completed a 36-month podiatric surgical residency.

Amends the definition of "podiatric medicine" to include surgical treatment of muscles and tendons of the leg governing foot functions and to permit treatment of the ankle.

Removes the previous prohibition on podiatrists treating ankle fractures and removes the restriction limiting treatment to nonsurgical procedures.

Maintains existing restrictions on amputation above the ankle, treatment of systemic conditions, and limits anesthetic use to local anesthetic only.

Takes effect upon approval.
