Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 386-78(a) to exempt compromises from director approval when they result from third-party liability claims or actions brought under Section 386-8.

Removes the requirement that all workers' compensation claim compromises receive approval from the Director of Labor and Industrial Relations, but only for those arising from third-party actions.

Effective July 1, 2014, with an automatic repeal date of June 30, 2016, at which time the original statutory language is restored.

Does not affect rights, duties, penalties, or proceedings that were already in progress before the effective date.
