Notes that 'A'ā is characterized by a rough, jagged, spinose, and clinkery surface and is one of three basic types of lava rock.

Recognizes that 'A'ā is the rarest of the three types of lava rock and is expelled by volcanoes during eruptions.

Acknowledges that the Hawaiian islands are volcanic in origin, with each island composed of at least one primary volcano, giving volcanoes deep cultural significance to Native Hawaiians.

Directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Governor, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources.
