Request the Department of Education, with County of Maui assistance, to identify Department of Education facilities on Molokai that can serve as emergency shelters during natural disasters.

Identify and document any deficiencies in listed facilities that could jeopardize health and safety, along with required improvements for emergency shelter use.

Submit findings, recommendations, and a complete list of identified facilities to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the start of the 2015 Regular Session.

Acknowledge Molokai's vulnerability to natural disasters, particularly tsunamis (25 of 29 Maui County damage claims from the 2011 tsunami were from Molokai), and support the Molokai Emergency Action Committee's planning efforts.
