Department of Transportation is requested to study means of maximizing the effectiveness and visibility of road signs along Highway 130 on Hawaii Island.

Study must consider vehicle traffic volume (35,700 cars daily in 2009 compared to 13,000 in 1999) and impact on quality of life for residents in the Puna district.

Study must examine wayside maintenance including frequency of grass and shrub clearing, proper road sign placement for visibility and safety, and adequacy of highway lighting.

Department of Transportation must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the convening of the Regular Session of 2015.

Certified copies of the resolution must be transmitted to the Director of Transportation and the Mayor of the County of Hawaii.
