Recognizes and commends the Moiliili Japanese Cemetery Beautification Project for conducting historical research and improving the cemetery.

The Moiliili Japanese Cemetery, opened in 1908, currently houses more than 2,000 family monuments and 10,000 souls representing early Japanese immigrants to Hawaii.

More than 100 volunteers have worked to replace the fence with a bluestone wall, improve the entrance, plant vegetation, build gardens and seating areas, and install new water supply infrastructure.

Volunteers collaborated with University of Hawaii to gather, translate, and catalog names from gravestones online to preserve historical records and make information publicly accessible.

Project advocates are applying for the cemetery's placement on the National and State Register of Historic Places.
