Commends the Hawaii Coalition Against Sexual Assault and supporting agencies for vital services provided to sexual assault victims in Hawaii.

Acknowledges that sexual assault is rapidly growing violent crime in America, with over 700,000 women raped or sexually assaulted annually and 61 percent of victims under age 18.

Recognizes that sexual assault is underreported in Hawaii and associated with severe consequences including drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, depression, suicide, and teenage pregnancy.

Specifically honors 10 organizations for sexual assault intervention, treatment, and prevention services: Hawaii Island Sexual Assault Support Services, Kauai Sexual Assault Treatment Services, Maui Sexual Assault Center, Oahu Sex Abuse Treatment Center, and six military sexual assault programs.

Expresses appreciation for the healing, guidance, and hope these organizations provide to sexual assault victims and survivors.
