Expands the definition of "medical services provider" under Hawaii's assault in the second degree statute to include advanced practice registered nurses, unlicensed medical professionals, and other medical staff involved in direct patient care.

Removes the restriction limiting protection to emergency room settings and extends coverage to include medical clinics and federally qualified health centers.

Changes the statutory language from "emergency medical services provider" to "medical services provider" to broaden the scope of protected healthcare workers.

Makes intentionally or knowingly causing bodily injury to covered medical services providers while engaged in the performance of duty an assault in the second degree offense.

Takes effect July 1, 2100.
