HI SB2300

Authorizes the State Fire Council to establish statewide qualifications and procedures for testing, certifying, and credentialing individuals who perform maintenance and testing of portable fire extinguishers, fire protection systems, and fire alarm systems.

Requires these qualifications and procedures to be administered by county fire departments in conformance with the adopted state fire code and nationally recognized standards.

Permits county fire departments to establish and charge reasonable certification fees for the credentialing program.

Empowers the State Fire Council to adopt rules pursuant to chapter 91 to implement these certification requirements.

Takes effect upon approval.
