HI SB2544

Restricts federal housing choice voucher retention to only original family members identified at the time of voucher issuance.

Automatically terminates vouchers upon the death or removal from assistance of the last original family member.

Allows surviving minor children added to the household by birth, adoption, or court order to retain the voucher until age 21, or age 23 if enrolled full-time at an accredited educational institution.

Prohibits legal guardians from being added to the household unless they are also eligible for the housing choice voucher program, and such guardians cannot retain the voucher after the youngest minor reaches the age limit.

Effective date: July 1, 2050.
