Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes § 707-711 to add assault of sports officials as a Class C felony under assault in the second degree.

Defines "sports event" as any organized amateur or professional athletic contest in the State.

Defines "sports official" as a person who enforces rules at a sports event (such as an umpire or referee) or supervises participants (such as a coach).

Prohibits intentionally or knowingly causing bodily injury to a sports official in retaliation for or on account of the official's performance of duty at a sports event.

Takes effect upon approval; does not affect rights, duties, or proceedings that matured or began before the effective date.
