Requests the University of Hawaii to create a task force to develop a plan for increasing the number of students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors aligned with Hawaii industry demands.

Task force membership includes the University of Hawaii System President (or designee), Department of Education Superintendent (or designee), Hawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education Executive Director (or designee), University of Hawaii faculty from STEM fields, and representatives from STEM industries and business selected by the Governor.

Task force must conduct a mapping exercise of current STEM readiness initiatives, including funding sources, targeted student groups, student numbers, and proven impact.

Task force must establish findings and recommendations to increase student readiness for STEM fields and identify workforce trends in Hawaii's STEM sectors.

University of Hawaii must submit task force findings, recommendations, overall plan, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2015 Regular Session convenes.
