Request that the Department of Accounting and General Services, Department of Land and Natural Resources, and Department of Transportation incorporate suitable native Hawaiian plant species into landscape designs for state construction and remodeling projects wherever feasible.

Native Hawaiian plants are naturally acclimated to Hawaii's environment and arrived through natural means such as ocean currents, birds, and air currents over millions of years.

Native Hawaiian plants offer multiple benefits including enhanced aesthetics at state facilities, water conservation through drought resistance requiring less irrigation, and promotion of flora suited to the local environment.

Certified copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to the Comptroller, Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources, and Director of Transportation.
