Urges the Governor to proclaim 2014 as the Year of the Worldwide Voyage to honor the Hokulea, a traditionally navigated vessel that first sailed from Hawaii to Tahiti in 1976.

Recognizes the Hokulea's role in reconnecting Pacific peoples, rekindling Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander pride, and serving as a catalyst for positive cultural and environmental change.

Notes that the Hokulea will embark on a worldwide voyage in 2014 covering 47,000 miles over four years, visiting 26 countries and 85 ports while building on 38 years of traditional Pacific voyaging across 140,000 miles.

Acknowledges the Hokulea's mission to raise awareness about ocean protection and Hawaiian natural resource management practices while promoting sustainable and respectful environmental stewardship.

Directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Governor, Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, Hawaii Tourism Authority, and Polynesian Voyaging Society.
