Director of Health requested to convene a task force to study the effects of the January 2014 fuel tank leak at the Red Hill Underground Fuel Storage Facility near Pearl Harbor, which leaked an estimated 27,000 gallons of JP-8 aviation fuel.

Task force membership to include representatives from the U.S. Navy, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Land and Natural Resources, Honolulu Board of Water Supply, legislature, and at least two community members, with the Director of Health serving as chairperson.

Task force to examine short- and long-term health, drinking water, and environmental effects of the leak; mitigation strategies for future leaks; communication improvements between Navy, State, and public; and implications of facility shutdown.

U.S. Navy urged to work with the Department of Health and Honolulu Board of Water Supply to remediate contamination beneath the Red Hill Facility to protect the groundwater aquifer.

Director of Health directed to submit task force findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2015 Regular Session convening.
