Urges the Governor to proclaim 2014 as the Year of the Worldwide Voyage in recognition of the Hokulea's planned departure for a global voyage.

Acknowledges Hokulea as a traditionally navigated vessel that proved the feasibility of intentional Polynesian voyaging when it first sailed from Hawaii to Tahiti in 1976.

Hokulea's worldwide voyage will cover 47,000 miles over four years, visiting 26 countries and 85 ports, building on over 38 years and 140,000 miles of traditional Pacific Ocean voyaging.

Recognizes Hokulea's mission to raise awareness about ocean protection, Hawaiian shorelines and reefs, and to share Hawaiian knowledge and practices of natural resource management.

Directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Governor, Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism, Hawaii Tourism Authority, and Polynesian Voyaging Society.
