Department of Land and Natural Resources requested to study feasibility of establishing a trust fund supporting conservation, reforestation of native Hawaiian trees, environmental stewardship, sustainable food and energy production, and programs benefiting children and elderly.

DLNR directed to establish an eco-tourism program allowing visitors and residents to purchase native or food-bearing trees for planting in designated areas throughout Hawaii, with fees collected for the trust fund.

Trust fund revenues initially designated for administering the eco-tourism program and eventually for educational programs supporting children and youth and caregiving services for elderly residents.

DLNR required to submit findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2015 Regular Session convenes.

Certified copy of resolution to be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources.
