HI HB1009

Amends the definition of "special interest vehicle" in Hawaii Revised Statutes section 286-2 to require vehicles be at least 25 years old based on model year.

Removes the previous provision allowing vehicles of any age to qualify as special interest vehicles if being collected, preserved, restored, or maintained.

Removes references to vehicles manufactured before 1968 and vehicles manufactured after 1967 that resemble pre-1968 vehicles as automatic categories.

Retains inclusion of street rod vehicles and street rod replica vehicles as defined in section 286-26.5.

Takes effect July 1, 2050.
