Authorizes the Department of Public Safety director to contract with private entities to employ temporary corrections officers at state correctional facilities.

Temporary officers may be hired to maintain regular inmate visitation hours or ensure adequate staffing levels when needed.

Private contracts are exempt from collective bargaining agreement provisions under Hawaii's chapter 89.

All hired temporary officers must possess qualifications necessary to perform corrections officer duties as determined by the director.
