Requests that Kamehameha Schools refrain from developing the 4.5-acre "Great Lawn" parcel in Hawaii Kai and preserve it in its natural state.

The Great Lawn is zoned as preservation land and is located at the entrance to Hawaii Kai, bordered by Hawaii Kai Drive, Kalanianaole Highway, and Keahole Street.

Kamehameha Schools proposed in 2013 to develop the parcel into a shopping complex with Foodland as the anchor tenant, prompting a community town hall meeting on March 21, 2013 attended by over 300 residents.

Kamehameha Schools temporarily suspended its development plans following community opposition, and the resolution notes alternative suitable sites exist in Hawaii Kai for such development, including Kalama Village Shopping Center.

Directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Chief Executive Officer of Kamehameha Schools and the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board Chairperson.
