Director of Health is requested to create a task force to address Hawaii's physician shortage, particularly in primary care specialties and rural areas.

Task force must assess and plan the physician workforce, recruit and retain physicians for underserved areas, and review training and licensing requirements that may prevent foreign medical school graduates from practicing in Hawaii.

Task force membership to include representatives from the Department of Health, John A. Burns School of Medicine, Philippine Medical Association of Hawaii, Hawaii Medical Association, Comprehensive Health Centers, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, and other individuals deemed appropriate.

Task force members shall serve without compensation but will be reimbursed for necessary expenses including travel costs incurred in performing their duties.

Task force must report findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2016 Regular Session convenes.
