Request that the Department of Land and Natural Resources develop permitting provisions requiring employees of watersport excursion companies to be trained in basic water safety measures, including first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Training requirements shall not exceed licensure standards adopted by industry associations, such as those used by the scuba diving industry.

Exemptions apply to employees who do not take customers on excursions (such as retail or reservations staff) and to vessels already regulated by the United States Coast Guard.

Department may determine whether requiring training for a defined percentage of employees present on an excursion is sufficient, rather than mandating all employees receive training.

Copy of the resolution to be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources.
