Requests the Public Utilities Commission to hold a public hearing on the approval of the sale of Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc. to NextEra Energy, Inc.

Notes that concerns have been raised the proposed purchase by the Florida-based company will negatively impact Hawaii's commitment to renewable energy development.

Acknowledges that public utilities cannot merge, consolidate, or purchase stock of another public utility without first obtaining authorization from the Public Utilities Commission.

Directs certified copies of the concurrent resolution be transmitted to the Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and the Chairperson of the Public Utilities Commission.
