Defines a micro-grid as interconnected loads and distributed energy resources that can operate in grid-connected or island mode.

Defines a self-sufficient residential solar photovoltaic system as a solar system with battery storage that provides excess energy to the grid once battery capacity is reached.

Requires certified copies be transmitted to Hawaiian Electric Industries, Hawaiian Electric Company, Kauai Island Utility Cooperative, and the Public Utilities Commission Chairperson.
