Request the Department of Education and Hawaii High School Athletic Association to examine the feasibility of establishing Brazilian jiu-jitsu as a sanctioned sport in public high schools.

Require the Department of Education to submit a report of findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 20 days prior to the convening of the 2016 Regular Session.

Recognize Brazilian jiu-jitsu as promoting valuable skills including hard work, dedication, focus, loyalty, integrity, humility, compassion, and physical fitness among students.

Highlight that Brazilian jiu-jitsu training builds camaraderie and unity through positive competitive interaction among participants.
