Request the Director of Health to create a task force to address Hawaii's physician shortage, which is particularly acute in rural and medically underserved areas.

Task force to assess and plan physician workforce needs, recruitment and retention strategies, training and licensing requirements for foreign medical graduates, and opportunities for internship and residency programs in Hawaii.

Task force membership to include representatives from the Department of Health, John A. Burns School of Medicine, Philippine Medical Association of Hawaii, Hawaii Medical Association, Comprehensive Health Centers, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, and other appropriate individuals designated by the Director of Health.

Task force members to serve without compensation but receive reimbursement for necessary expenses including travel costs.

Task force to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2016 Regular Session convenes.
