House Resolution urging the Governor, Board of Education, Department of Education, and Hawaii State Teachers Association to establish a minimum median teacher salary adjusted for cost of living that is not the lowest in the nation among metropolitan areas in the next collective bargaining agreement.

Cites MacIver Institute study showing teachers in Honolulu have the lowest median salary among 60 major U.S. metropolitan areas when adjusted for cost of living.

Notes that over half of all new-arriving teachers in Hawaii leave their district within the first five years of employment.

Identifies Hawaii's high cost of living as a factor causing teachers to relocate to mainland cities where they can earn higher salaries in lower cost-of-living areas.

Directs certified copies be transmitted to the Governor, Board of Education Chairperson, Superintendent of Education, and President of the Hawaii State Teachers Association.
