Requests Hawaii Department of Education to convene a task force to assess Common Core State Standards and develop alternative state-based educational standards with local stakeholder input.

Task force must conduct comprehensive review of English Language Arts and Mathematics standards and propose modifications to increase student achievement, ensure age-appropriate content, improve parent/teacher understanding, and establish college and career ready standards.

Task force composition includes 2 parents selected by Senate President, 2 parents selected by House Speaker, 3 education professionals selected by State Board of Education, Board of Education Chairperson, Department of Education Superintendent, Charter School Administrative Office Executive Director, and Hawaii P-20 Executive Director.

Task force must involve and survey representative samples of parents, teachers, and public members to determine academic content standards reflecting Hawaii's priorities.

Department of Education must report findings and recommendations to Legislature no later than twenty days before the Regular Session of 2016.
