Amends Section 302A-627, Hawaii Revised Statutes to establish salary placement rules for teachers with more than one year of teaching experience entering or reentering the Hawaii Department of Education.

Requires new teachers to enter at the upper-most teacher salary class for which they have the necessary degree or degree and credits.

Requires teachers reentering the department to return at the same class and step from which they departed, or its equivalent.

Ensures teacher salary ratings are equal to incumbent teachers in the department with similar credentials and identical years of experience.

Takes effect upon approval.
