Home schooled children who comply with Hawaii's homeschooling requirements (section 302A-1132) are eligible to participate in extracurricular activities at the public school they would otherwise attend.

Participating home schooled children must meet all activity-specific requirements and restrictions, including grade point average standards and applicable fees.

The Department of Education may adopt rules to establish procedures for home schooled children to apply for extracurricular activities and to define which programs qualify as extracurricular.

Extracurricular activities are defined as school-authorized or education-related activities during or outside regular school hours, including sports, cheerleading, clubs, and other programs.

The Act takes effect upon approval.
