S.B. 382 Summary

• Establishes a grant program for qualified feed developers to reimburse up to 50% of feed development costs, capped at $200,000 per developer annually, with reimbursement denied if it would result in more than 10% annual profit.

• Appropriates funds to reimburse qualified producers of milk, pork, eggs, poultry, beef, sheep, lamb, goats, and seafood for their feed costs.

• Appropriates funds for the department of agriculture to conduct a survey identifying, assessing, and validating locally sourced feed ingredients available to feed developers.

• Appropriates funds to the department of education for implementation and operation of the Future Farmers of America program to educate and support youth in agriculture careers.

• Allows appropriations under the feed developer grant program to carry forward without lapsing until June 30, 2017; Act takes effect July 1, 2030.
