SB 387 Summary

• Establishes an affirmative consent task force to review and make recommendations on the University of Hawaii's executive policy regarding sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.

• Task force comprises 14 members including University of Hawaii administrators, state commission representatives, students, advocacy organizations (ACLU, Sex Abuse Treatment Center), law enforcement, and a women's legislative caucus member.

• Task force must consider best practices, professional standards, and contemporary corrective actions when reviewing current policy and providing guidance to all University of Hawaii campuses.

• Requires task force to submit findings and recommendations to the legislature no later than twenty days before the regular sessions of 2016 and 2017.

• Task force ceases to exist on June 30, 2017; act takes effect July 1, 2015.
