• Request Department of Land and Natural Resources to form the Kapua Lands Consortium to assess acquisition of approximately 7,000 acres of agricultural and conservation land in South Kona on the island of Hawaii.

• Consortium limited to five members representing organizations whose mission is to conserve land, preserve natural resources, and Native Hawaiian customs or improve Native Hawaiian well-being.

• DLNR to form consortium in consultation with The Trust for Public Land Hawaii Advisory Board and The Nature Conservancy of Hawai'i.

• Consortium directed to work with Legislative Reference Bureau to draft legislation prior to the 2016 Regular Session.

• Goal is to preserve Kapua lands in pristine condition for future generations while ensuring preservation of agriculture and prudent economic development, as the lands are currently slated for resort development by South Kona LLC.
