Request the Judiciary to convene a working group to examine Hawaii's enhanced sentencing laws under HRS §706-657 and extended sentencing laws under HRS §706-661 and §706-662.

Working group should include representatives from the Attorney General, Department of Public Safety, county prosecuting attorneys, State Public Defender, and Hawaii State Bar Association Criminal Justice and Corrections Section.

Working group directed to determine the number of cases over the last ten years where enhanced or extended sentencing was sought and granted, and analyze time sentenced versus time actually served.

Working group to review criteria for extended terms of imprisonment in HRS §706-662 and determine whether further statutory clarity is needed.

Working group to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2016 Regular Session, with the group dissolved on June 30, 2016.
