Department of Health shall implement a radiation monitoring pilot project to assess impacts of the March 11, 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster on Hawaii's environment and public health.

Project shall measure and monitor radiation levels in food, dairy products, rainwater, aquifers, and drainage ditches that may be affected by increased radiation.

Department shall post periodic reports on radiation levels and their significance to the State on its website.

Pilot project runs from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2020, with preliminary findings due to the Legislature by 20 days before the 2018 Regular Session and final report due by 20 days before the 2021 Regular Session.

Final report must include recommendations on whether the pilot project should be continued, modified, or terminated.
